Today's "Chips of the Day" come from "DOPEY NORMAN'S" which was located on the west side of Highway 50 at the Stateline, on the south shore of Lake Tahoe and where "Harvey's Resort Hotel & Casino" sits today. Opened from 1953 to 1954, this small cardroom became "Tony's Club" later in 1954 until finally closing in 1957. Today's chips were issued in 1953. Enjoy!
"For those who may not know, before opening 'Dopey Norman's' at Lake Tahoe,
Norman Reinburg ran a Night Club during the 1940s in the Bay Area, near Mare Island Naval Shipyard,
catering to a large population of sailors during and after World War II.
It wasn't until March of 1953 that he opened his short lived casino at the Lake.
Soon after, Tony Grech took over the place and opened 'Tony's Club' in the same spot"
"This is a souvenir photograph from Norman Reinburg's Night Club in Vallejo, California"
