Chipco part 2 ...

I promised some pictures, but it was too late yesterday and I didn’t want to burn my fingers, twice.
A global overview of the chips, as you can see the chips are in worn condition and red appears on some other colored chips like the blue ones.
I bought these in France, about 1400, based on some pictures.
When the package arrived, it was clear that the pictures didn’t match the chips at all.
So, this one was a bad deal. If somebody wants to know the whole story, give me a couple of hours to write it down.
I handpicked the best, washed them and they are on Delcampe now. I’ll even trough in free shipping if somebody wants them. And no, there are no red cars in the lot.

Me being curious about the content and making of this kind of chipco wanted to know how these chips react on some, let us say, science projects.
Can they be drilled? Yes, quite easy, it feels like drilling in plastic.
Can you hammer a letter into it? No, it breaks.
Can you bend them? No, the edges start to crack and then the chip just explodes in fragments.
Can you sand them? Yes, you can sand them, making some nice white chips. OK, they are a bit smaller afterwards of course.
Can you burn them? Yes, they first melt like marshmallows

but I had to put them in the middle of the fire to get this result.

After cooling down for a night I now have a fragile form that falls into powder as soon as you touch it.

I also did a fireproof of a celluloid chip (it was an ashtray chip) to show my wife how dangerous going to the movies was in the early days (Inglourious Basterds).
Picture before.

Picture after.

Jo from Belgium.
