I don't know if this is the "Shoebox" chip seller / collector you are seeking, but ...

I remember a chip seller on eBay some years ago named Wayne Varner. His eBay name was WVShoeboxCards (I think) or something close to that. He mostly sold baseball / sports cards, including some higher priced stuff. In addition, he did sell casino chips too, including some better ones.

It has been multiple years since I saw his listings though.
