Advanced Patent Technology, a slot machine maker and slot route operator, announced plans in 1979 for a hotel and casino, with Ramada Inns to manage the hotel. Construction began in October, as a joint venture with John Fulton, a Southern California restauranteur; the casino opened on November 10, 1980. Circus-Circus bought and razed the property in 1984 to make room for their Edgewater property. (Wikipedia)
That "Original" Colorado Belle structure was on the land that is now the Edgewater and needed to be torn down in order to build the Edgewater. There was a 3-year gap before Circus Circus Ent., had the current Colorado Belle (the riverboat) built. I believe that the original Colorado Belle's gaming license was not extended to Circus Circus, which is why ChipGuide has 2 separate entries for the Colorado Belle, and likewise TheChipRack.
ChipGuide needs a good picture of the original Colorado Belle, may I use yours?
