The Chromebook will run gsuite (Chrome's version of office) and its really a good office suite for docs, spreadsheet and presentation software (slides). each of them also will open or save to an MS office application and do a really good job of it, so its still an option to stick with that. Otherwise you can use the browser itself (Chrome) and use the web version of office 365 -- which also works pretty well as your other option as others have told you about. You'll need to save everything on Onedrive (the cloud storage) but otherwise it should work.
