So today Cindy dropped her laptop for the third time on the power cord (damaging the connector) and also it did something to the fan so it overheats after just a few minutes and shuts off. OK junk the computer and get a new one. Since the Coronavirus closed all of the schools every kid had to get a computer to keep studying so Walmart is out of computers except for a few models. We take a chrome book home and it works great. But I always like to make sure that my machines have MS Office on them and of course I don't want to pay for the service. So I have, for the last 20 years, loaded up my Office 2000 Pro disc and just installed it on the new machine. Of course this new machine does not have a CD player so I just loaded the disc unto a USB memory stick. I have sone this before with no problems. The problem now is that the chromebook tries to find an app to open the setup.exe file for Office and can't find any. No idea why you just can't click on the file and open it like I have been doing for 20 years. Does anyone know if it is possible to load this program onto my new machine and why it can't find whatever it needs to open the setup file? Does it have something to do with the Chrome OS vs the MS Windows OS?
