A good suggestion but not a panacea.

How would the hard surface betting area adopt to a craps table? Hard surfaces don't hold a virus long, but they sure can spread 'em rapidly! Besides, they would be the antithesis to the fabled Green Felt Jungle!

But a "safe-chip" might be an improvement over current (soon-to-be extinct) chips with hatching, inlays and embedded designs that are germ catching and re-distribution devices...

Predicting that chips will go the way of coins in commercial gaming - - another dodo bird fading into extinction.
