Big divide in Wisconsin. Tavern League is pushing hard for re-opening. There are other businesses that are willing to trade lives for dollars. The problem I have, is people are denying science and health in favor of politics. There's always been a big divide in Wisconsin over some issues.
Past Governor put a stop to some stupid spending, like a train from Milwaukee to Madison, which I could have predicted no one would use. The liberals, went after him with a vengeance, investigations, trying to have a recall vote, just 100% party BS. My opinion at the time was pretty much "what goes around comes around". Dems were just as disruptive and nasty as they could be. ps I'm a rail fan, but I'm not an idiot, just because I like trains?
Now we have a Democratic Governor as of 2018 and Republicans holding both chambers of the state legislature. I don't think anyone will be giving in for anything with bipartisan support.
Just trying to explain what you may read or see in the news. I'm actually rural and more conservative leaning, as are most of my neighbors and friends. But because of caution and the problem with being over 70, and the distinct possibility that this isn't just a hoax or over so soon, I'd rather have people stay in a little longer. The current command is a little strong. I mean, wait until there's a peak and things are getting better for 14 days, then remove the restrictions. Not, "oh we'll make it another month, what the heck?"
If that's not clear, we should be staying home, until there are signs that things are safe, not running out into the streets because people don't like the governor and not the governor and his people just picking a date one month off, without good reason. There's a false sense of safety going around, that this has passed. "It's not going to happen to me" kind of denial. But our governor has over stepped his authority.
I'm out of work until maybe the 5th, that's the plan from the race track. "Be ready to go back on the 5th" Fine with me. I'm not ready to go to the local saloon and sit around with a random gathering of 20-30 people. See how that works? There are no absolutes and people need to decide based on thinking, not their politics. There are situational decisions as well, where the governor and his self appointed health czar, shouldn't get to make a blanket ban.
Valerie works at different nursing homes, two days a week. She can't work at one and go someplace else. She does home care the other four days, and can't go to any nursing home, if she's been with a client anywhere else. She leaves her shoes out on the back Sun porch before coming in. Changes and puts her work clothes into the washer, every day, when she gets home. So if I'm wearing a mask, out shopping... once a week, and washing and using hand sanitizer after I go anywhere, chances are, she'll be bringing the virus home to me anyway. So that's the way it is?
Between a rock and a hard place.
I don't know what's going on around the rest of the states, but there's no shortage of anything around here. There may be limits because of the hoarding and stockpiling, but stores are full and open. Almost all the restaurants and bars have curbside pick up, no one inside except workers. If I need a drink, I can go to a store, gas station, or quick mart. Biggest shortage personally is finding good Diet Tonic water.
