The Bank Club was owned by Bud Simpson who was also owned the Nevada Hotel. He was well
liked by everybody in Ely and would always mingle with his customers. He would help out anyone
in need. He also buried fifteen million dollars in the desert around Ely. Not sure if he ever dug it up.
He was gone by the time I got to Ely in the 70s but I got to know his widow, Pinky, who owned
the Mustang Club, quite well. The Bank Club was also closed but the bar next to was open and
I would sneak in once in a while.
