In the 70's I had a bookie, mainly for horse

betting. Bookie had a gal who answered her phone in her house. She would write down the betting info on a small piece of paper. Once a week betters would meet with the bookie at a bar, and settle up. Someone called the police and they raided her house. She saw them coming and executed a long-standing plan and dumped all tickets down a 1/4" X 3" slot at the top of the hollow door to her office. They searched all over her house couldn't find any evidence. Then she rented a small apt. and had a new phone number, no problems for the next few years before I moved and stopped my dealings.
