Sad to think that one earthquake destroyed most of those buildings. A few years ago I was lucky enough to actual visit with Peg Kaplan who owns the El Rancho; along with a few of her friends, and walk through it and talk to them about the history of it.

There is a group that is trying to bring back what they can of that area and I with that I still had my notes so if anyone knows what it is please post it here. When I was there Pam explained that someone she knew fixed neon signs and had redone the one for the El Rancho. I wish that I could have spent more time with her and need to get back in contact with her and see how she is doing.
