I live an hour north of NYC, 40 minutes from New Rochelle. Everything pretty much shut down last weekend. Also "essential businesses" can remain open, and the definition is liberal. For instance, my son works for a company that has several check-cashing locations. They are not closing (he is pretty annoyed lol), they have been deemed "essential".
New Yorkers are pretty resilient, most everyone I know say everyone they know is doing OK and nobody is panicking. It is not productive. I'm a Trump guy, but I like Cuomo and have voted for him several times. Both are doing a great job. de Blasio, on the other hand is a TOOL and is once again being exposed for the light-weight that he truly is. NOT a leader. That guy needs to go, he is useless. And we are pretty much used to social-distancing as anyone who has lived in the City can attest to, in a city that is very crowded we are used to giving each other a wide berth lol.
So don't panic----and don't assume this is going nationwide. It still does not make sense to shut everything down in locations that don't have infections. One day at a time, this will pass.
