6) Did you notice how much respect Las Vegas has for history? We keep tearing down landmarks and places that can never be replaced. No one seems to care or try to do anything about it. All that anyone seems to care about is how many more subdivisions can we build; how many more manmade lakes can we build; no one speaks about evaporation but by George don’t you dare water that 4 by 5 front lawn you have. After all we must conserve water. Are you kidding me? Who believes this Cra p. No one with half of a brain could possibly believe this makes any sense.
7) One of our favorite restaurants was Austin’s steak house located at Texas Station and Casino, The brilliant management took it out and replaced it with Beaumont’s Southern Kitchen. They said the surrounding area would not support the prices Austin’s required to stay in business. Today the prices for Beaumont’s is just as expensive if not more so then Austin’s steak house. On top of that they have introduced steaks in hoping to bring in some customers. The food is terrible. Tough, over cooked and cold. You can’t get much worse than that. No one is going to Beaumont’s. If I were in charge, in my opinion, I would fire that idiot who destroyed Austin’s steak house and replaced it with this place that no one goes to. What a brilliant decision…NOT!!!!
8) I have almost completed a book I have written about one of the last Damien Runyon characters left in Las Vegas. The book is in the picture selection stage and I hope should be printed and released shortly. The title is:
RICHIE RICH – THE ROUGE
A BIOGRAPHY
As told to James L. Perlowski
At the Grape Vine Café – Las Vegas, NV
It is 100% true because no one could make this $hit up.
I have spent most Tuesday mornings with Richie at the Grape Vine Café before it opens at 11:30am. We would arrive at 10:00am and Moe the owner would let us in to work. We would then enjoy lunch. Richie is 80 years young and has led an interesting life. I will post a short blurb taken from the book involving Richie playing poker with Bob Stupak.
9) I was following the prices realized from the Doug Saito chip auctions. It appears quality pieces are still bringing a good price. One has to be careful and understand that two bidders could artificially create a false value in attempting to acquire the chip. I still have to stop myself from bidding and getting back into the hobby when I see a chip that is going very low in relation to what it is actually worth.
10) If you love quality pizza and are not afraid to spend a buck, may I suggest Red Rock Pizza located at Lake Mead/Rampart. The address is 8455 West Lake Mead Blvd. The phone number is 702-304-0400. Pauli is the owner and Niko is his manager. They deliver but I really don’t know the radius. Tell them I sent you and would like the Perlowski special. It will cost you a few bucks but I promise you will not find a finer pizza.
