Sycuan Casino closes buffet; worried that

J. Eric may come back to eat more oysters? Wish I got two weeks of paid leave!

Still can't figure out - how they plan to put more distance between slot machines?

Look for other California casinos to take similar steps . . .

Dear Valued Guest,

Out of an abundance of caution to protect our guests and team members amid COVID-19 concerns, Sycuan Casino Resort is taking several additional precautionary measures throughout the property. We want to ensure you are confident in playing and staying with us. We greatly appreciate your patience at this time. Sycuan’s top priority is the health, safety and security of our guests, team members and the surrounding community. After thoughtful consideration and closely monitoring developments, we are taking the following swift action to further protect you and our team members:

All concerts and events in Live & Up Close theatre and Heritage Event Center will be postponed through the end of March, and rescheduled. Please contact the casino box office if you’d like to inquire about a refund.
Beginning Saturday, March 14 there will be a temporary closure of The Buffet. We will closely monitor updates and reopen once we feel it is safe.
Beginning on Monday, March 16 there will be a temporary closure of select food and beverage outlets, including Bull & Bourbon, Elicit Bar & Lounge and Hangry Slice, again, closely monitoring updates and reopen once we feel it is safe.
The gaming floor and calendar will be modified to allow for increased distance between gaming patrons.
Sycuan’s one-year anniversary celebrations on March 27 and 28 will be postponed, including the VIP Slot Tournament, dates TBD.
Retreat Pool & Cabanas will postpone the opening of the outdoor pool venue and upcoming pool events, dates TBD.
Bingo is postponing all major events in March, including Spring Fling, BAD Bingo, BAD Circus Spectacular, and will be removing chairs for a safer distance between players, in addition to the deep cleaning of bingo stations after every session.
“We are taking every precaution to protect our guests and team members and are fully committed to the health and well-being of the San Diego Community at large,” said Robert Cinelli, General Manager, Sycuan Casino Resort. “We have a dedicated team who is closely monitoring updates and we will continue to make quick and necessary changes as more information becomes available. Nothing is more important to the Sycuan family than the safety of our guests and team members.”

Additionally, The Sycuan Tribal Council took immediate action to ensure that none of its team members will be negatively affected by the temporary closures.

“To offset any negative impacts our team members may potentially experience due to the extenuating circumstances of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation Tribal Council has approved immediate changes to our employee leave policy,” said Cody Martinez, Chairman, Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. “It is important to us that we ensure the livelihood of our team members as schools are being closed across the county and as we choose to take the precautionary measures listed above. The changes include, but are not limited to; two weeks of paid leave with no impact to paid time off for any team member who has been displaced by temporary closures and additional measures for team members who have fallen ill or have been impacted by the care and custody of their children. We would like to thank our team members for their patience and understanding as we work through this unprecedented circumstance. We will get through this difficult time together.”

All other promotions and events will continue to take place as we monitor updates. We ask that you please comply and follow all steps to protect yourself with the recommendations set forth by the CDC here.

Sincerely,
Robert Cinelli
General Manager
