John is exactly right. I have been getting my feet wet researching the illegal casinos in NY and NY with the help of Veteran Chippers. The generic chips, which were used on the roulette tables are difficult to substantiate their use at these clubs unless the party that obtained them are credible, forthright and a reliable source. There are some Brook Chips out there now that are not from Saratoga according to a reliable source. According to their research the Heart and Rectangle mold was not manufactured until after the club was long burned down decades before they were manufactured. They are the ones with the Brook Club spelled out in the picture below. According to the Chip Guide they were from Florida. That being Said the odds are the most of the generic chips are not all from New York.
One of the sellers that has many of the New York Chips up for sale did have Arrowhead Inn Chips posted stating they were from New York. I did shoot him a note indicating that they were really from Ohio and they did change the listing to reflect that.
The Geist and fun of Illegal collecting is the detective work that is required going forward and the great information that has already discovered by the Illegal Chip Club Pioneer's
I hope to get up to Saratoga in the coming weeks to speak to people on the ground and continue my own research. I have a set of Roulette chips and markers from Riley's Lake House. They are a generic type chip but I have only seen one or two of the same out there after looking a 100's of thousands of chips and ebay listings. Unlike the Moon and star chips amount others that are on e-bay. I obtained them from a reliable source that I have spoken to at length on the phone. He has great knowledge and history of the Saratoga clubs and will be meeting with him for further discussions. Hopefully leading to a good club magazine article. If you would like to see the set shoot me an e-mail.....
