Falmouth, Maine is an affluent northern suburb of Portland, situated
beside Casco Bay on the southern coast of Maine. The town was
founded in 1630 as New Casco, then reincorporated as Falmouth in
the 1700's. It was famous for fishing, shipbuilding, agriculture, and
logging mills before evolving into a residential suburb. Movie actor
Gary Merrill was born there. According to Wikipedia, Falmouth is
home to three private golf clubs plus the Portland Yacht Club - and
is mentioned in several Stephen King novels including Salem's Lot.
