I recently acquired the $20 chip without the overstamp which I believe is much rarer than the overstamped chip. I was thinking that perhaps without the overstamp it looked like a cashable cheque and so were removed and then overstamped and then reused. Then there's the 20 without the dollar sign which I'm thinking indicates No Cash Value. (The front side is common to all three.)
