Before the Sahara hotel in 1952 opened ...Sahara Avenue used to be called San Francisco Ave. Early on it was referred to as State Rd., Highway 589 from Boulder Highway Las Vegas Boulevard which was Highway 91.... Also Tropicana Boulevard wasn’t called that until 1957 when it opened...It was previously called Bon air Road ... Another short history lesson here in Las Vegas
