A few months ago, I came across an auction for a Nevada Club slot glass. I collect belly glass from machines
that have the casino names prominently displayed and this looked like a perfect addition to my collection.
When it arrived in the mail, I realized that this glass was not what I’d expected.
It was much, much smaller than I thought it would be.
I revisited the auction description and saw that I overlooked the actual dimensions of the glass.
If you’ve ever seen Rob Reiner’s Rockumentary, This is Spinal Tap!,
you’ll find the similarities in what happened with my ebay purchases and the Stonehenge model in the movie.
The glass was not for the slot belly. Rather, it was a piece near the top of the machine.
(As can be seen from this internet pic of a Jennings slot.)
I still enjoy the piece and it has found a place next to its bigger brothers.
Lessons learned.
Read ebay descriptions carefully and remember “ is NOT the same as ‘ when describing measurements.
