Chip Storage Project - A Little Background........

..........Info.

First of all - Thanks to everyone who commented on my post about my Chip Storage Project #1 -I appreciate your kind words !!

I have a ways to go on completing this Chip Storage Project #1 - as the Storage boxes I am using are on "back order" and I am waiting for 30 more of them to arrive.

Now, as Paul Harvey would say "Here is the Rest of the Story"

I have been collecting Casino Chips and other Casino Items - especially Roulette related items for 28 years. I joined the CCGTCC (now CCA) in May of 1992. Before getting involved with Chips, I had collected Foreign coins, Odd and Curious Money, Medals, Badges and Tokens of all kinds (but NO Casino Tokens). To show you how Bright I am - I sold all of my Gold and Silver Coins and Medals to buy Clay and Plastic Chips. vbg vbg vbg If I had a choice I would do it all over again. I love this Hobby !!

I guess I inherited the Collector "Gene" from my Father, who was an avid Stamp and Postage Meter Collector. Here is a picture of my Father from 1955 in his "Stamp Room" putting away some Foreign stamps in an album.

I was also influenced by an old German Coin and Stamp Dealer I met and dealt with back in the 1970s. He had a World Class stamp collection. One of the things that impressed me was how he stored his collection and the pride he had in what he had collected. Herman had all custom made albums complete with "Dust Covers" to house his prized collection. The visual look of the albums was impressive even before you opened them up and saw the stamps meticulously displayed inside the albums.

Also, I have always enjoyed displaying my various collections at the CCA and ANA Conventions for other collectors to enjoy. My next post will be of a collection of Roulette related items that I have housed in my Museum in another old cabinet that I purchased several years ago. My son Damian who is a custom cabinet maker redid the interior of this cabinet for me to better house my collection. Damian also built all the shelves and the "wrap around" desk/counter in my Chip Office.

Take care,
Jerry
