The next Storage/Display Cabinet in my Chip Museum is located right next to my 72 Drawer Library Cabinet I featured in my Project #1 Post a couple of days ago.
This 24 Drawer/Display Cabinet was originally housed in a Geology Department of a College in Central Pennsylvania. Looking at the Dovetail construction of the drawers I would guess the cabinet was probably built in the 1940s or earlier. I bought it about 15 years ago at an Auction Sale. I paid less than $100 total for this Cabinet. Many of the drawers were either missing or damaged and there were even some "Rocks" left in the cabinet. It barely fit in my van but I managed to get it home to Delaware. Originally the cabinet landed in my shed and the I moved it to my downstairs office and finally it made its eay up to the Museum !!
I put on heavy duty casters so it could be moved around as needed. My Damian (the Cabinet Make) built me 24 brand new display shelves and donated them to the Project. I went out and bought a few yards of Red Felt to line the drawers and the Cabinet was ready to receive 100s of Roulette Related Items from my collection. This entire massive Cabinet cost me less than $$150.00 to complete - a "Real Bargain" !!
Shown below are scans of the cabinet, one of the original drawers, the new drawers and most importantly my highly valued Roulette Related Items. These are items that are small enough to be displayed in these drawers, but they are only a portion of my total Roulette Related collectibles.
The last 2 drawers shown are filled with 100s of Roulette Related paper items. I will have to take these items and eventually put them in albums of some sort for proper display - but that's a Future Project !!
Take care,
Jerry
