I'm searching for articles/notes that date back to the Civil War, Midwest and Old West onward (1850-1918) and around the mid-1800's to 1920's in Europe, that actually describe chips on the game by collectors and or, whomever. Though not interested in any dime novels about saloon gambling or anything previously published even if actually mentioning the house's chips or monograms and denominations or shapes (I see that many of the "Old West" house chips were metal triangle; something hardly seen in Hollywood or TV movies or whatever. Not interested in the "Eldo" in scroll ivories or anything seen in Seymour's work which has been well hashed over in the past 30-40 years... and only actual reportings as the one seen here.
Just an example of one such newspaper article (ChipGuide image) where pencel rubbings/drawings describe denominations and what the chips were made of.
Funny, thoug; the writer goes on to mention two of the higher denominations of 500 and 1000 being Mother-of-Pearl... and probably not even knowing about my 5000 and 10000 plaques... Maybe I should send a letter to the editor updating the denominations...
