As I was sorting thru some chips earlier tonight I came across this four piece set of chips from The Faynt Hotel in Golconda, Nevada - the R.B.F. Initials are for the owner Robert B. Faynt. I looked them up on the Chip Guide and they were not listed so I figured I would post them up here for everyone to see.

Most collectors don't even know about these chips or even the town of Golconda.. As a matter of fact these are examples of the only four chips that exist from the town of Golconda, Nevada.

The best part of the story on these chips is that I acquired them from another collector in a TRADE many years ago for a value of about $5.00 each. Neither one of us knew where the chips were from and he was a very experienced and well know Nevada collector !!

I put the chips in a UFC album and they remained there for several years along with a bunch of their fellow unidentified chips. One day I was looking thru the Chip Rack and stumbled across the listing for the Faynt Hotel and a light bulb went off - I grabbed the UFC album that contained the R.B.F. chips and realized that they were actually very Rare chips from Golconda, Nevada. What a pleasant surprise when I saw the chips were valued at around $250 each - not bad for a $20 trade !!

It is always fun to find a "Diamond or Four in the Rough".
