~~~ (a carpet joint) and that's because most personal (and casino/club) sets/inventory back then were made up with stock, pre-engraved reverses with a dead-center denomination where a monetary unit (F, Pts... or whatever) could be added when a monogram or graphics were added to the obverse... and, in this case; the '$' and the denomination are centered which screams made-to-order... and, of course, they can be from anywhere, but it's a lot more fun thinking California (or maybe Mississippi or NOLA; a close second or third 🤔).
