I don’t have proof where these chips were used because there is not a card (that I have located)
But I strongly believe these were used at the HILO Club in Redwood City. There are a couple of reasons why.
1. Found a matching Matchcover.
2. Found a couple of newspaper articles claiming a gambling raid.
3. I know what the San Jose HI-LO chips look like.
In every listing I have seen for San Jose... there is a Hyphen in between the HI and LO.
These chips to me...say ...HILO...as in HILO Hawaii.
****is there enough evidence to change the HILO listing (from San Jose)? No...probably not... but it does put doubt into the ID. I will find the newspaper articles and matchcover in a bit (hopefully)
I know that nobody will want to change it.
1. Because not enough proof (and I completely understand)
2.Chip is probably more collectible as San Jose (worth more?)
3. People don’t like changes.
The San Jose chips looked like this...
Hard to photograph this worn chip...but it does have a hyphen.
I can’t say the chips were used at this location as these club moved to another location in San Jose. I don’t have those dates pinned down.
