One of the great things about the Chip Collecting Hobby is finding things you never imagined existed !! I have been collecting Boardwalk Regency Roulette chips from Atlantic City for over 28 years. Many of the chips I had in my collection were very, very worn and barely readable in some cases. Also some were severely notched, but I was glad to get chips for this collection no matter what condition they were in.
Then "out of the blue" I was able to acquire about 30 different chips for this collection all in virtually uncirculated condition !! I spotted a couple of these chips on Ebay a couple of weeks ago and I bought them. After getting the chips I asked the seller if he happened to have any other Roulettes from the Boardwalk Regency. I was totally shocked when he sent me scans of about 30 uncirculated Roulette chips. We agreed on a sale price and I bought them ALL. After I got the lot of new chips, I added them to my collection and updated my display of these chips (see the scans below). I asked the seller where he had gotten the chips ?? I thought maybe he had picked the chips up many years ago from the Casino. He told me he had purchased the chips at a local antique auction in Pennsylvania and that was all he knew about them.
I wish I knew who had collected these chips and if they knew about our Hobby and Club - I guess I will never get answers to those questions.
The moral to the story is keep looking around and asking questions because you never know what might show up !!
