I would occasionally visit the Waldorf but there wasn't any gaming in its last years. Jack Joseph
was a disc jockey who came on at midnight and was on the radio. There were a lot of cartoon
drawings of locals on the wall. When they closed I asked the owner if there were any old chips
around. We went in the back where there was a small safe and he got down on his hands and
knees and dug out a small canvas bag full of those blue five dollar chips which he gave me!
The place re-opened as Bambinos, a small nightclub. There is a chapter on the the Waldorf in
Warren Nelson's book. I highly recommend it if you're interested in Reno gambling history.
