The SNCCC's Sheldon Smith Report for 9 March, 2021...
The SNCCC has returned to conducting it's regular 2nd Tuesday Meetings and the March 9th meeting was... well... Fabulous!
In following the COVID protocols of the Governor of Nevada and enhancements of Boyd Gaming, our meeting kicked-off at 6 pm with 47 members and guests in attendance. 3 less than what the room size was permitted under the 35% usage rule. At 6:45 we started the Auction, for which there were 24 Lots. 22 Lots were advertised and two members, Rich Burgel and Rick Lonski, who brought along an additional Lot each, with 100% of the proceeds going to the SNCCC.
A special thanks to Rich Burgel for bringing along a supply of chips and post cards as door prizes for all who attended! Also, our thanks to Pam Focazio for picking up cupcakes!
Following the Auction, Club Member and Board Officer, James Hogg (as the Guest Speaker) presented on his Adventures to Nevada Mining Towns and Mine Sites. This presentation is available on the SNCCC's Facebook page, courtesy of 2 individuals that stopped by that night and ended up joining the Club and broadcasting the meeting via Facebook Live. Thank you Trista and Theresa Caruso.
Following a brief break and settling up of Auction payments, the Business portion of the Meeting was Called to Order by President Vergatos at 8:10 pm. The Club Secretary (Jim Follis) read the minutes of the last, previous SNCCC Meeting of November, 2020. The Minutes were unanimously approved without objection. Club Treasurer (Terri Lonski) reported that the Club’s Financial Balance as: $6,401.94. Club Membership Chairperson (Pam Focazio) presented that paid Membership was at 168.
The Membership Officer also noted, and made thanks to, Club Member Walt Gonski's generous donation of 10, 1-year SNCCC memberships, along with offers for 3 more 1-year memberships by several other members in attendance (Jerry Vergatos and Francios Dejon).
OLD BUSINESS:
The past arrangement to conduct a Monthly Meeting at the home of Mike and Anne Spinetti, in tribute to Mike, is now being discussed by the Board and Anne, to perhaps, happen on April 13th. This is NOT set and further developments will be passed to membership.
NEW BUSINESS:
The BoD will discuss the possibility of having the June Monthly Meeting concurrent with the CCA's Annual Convention in June, at the South Point Casino.
President Vergatos provided information regarding the CCA's plan to conduct the Convention in June.
It was noted that the Eldorado Casino, Henderson, was sold by Boyd Gaming to the current owners of the Railroad Pass Casino.
It was noted that the former Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will re-open as the Virgin Hotel and Mohegan Sun Casino on March 25th.
The Business Meeting portion was adjourned at 8:26 pm.
We then conducted the 50/50 and Prizes Raffle.
Next month’s meeting (April 13th) which may be held at the home of Anne Spinetti. If not, our meeting will take place at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino. Details will be worked out and notifications will be sent via email to the SNCCC Invitation Listing.
