Musings on the off-strip "Royals" ...

I get confused sometimes in the various "Royals" off-strip casinos that were on Convention Center Drive.

Both properties were on the south side of the street, between the Strip and Paradise.

Here's a review, plus a couple of questions at the bottom of this post --

99 Convention Center Drive (nearer to LV Strip):
Joe Slyman's Royal Casino, then (just) Royal Casino, then Royal Las Vegas (spanning 71-77, then 77-88, then 90-xx respectively).
Now the Royal Resort (slots only).

Postcard pic for reference (from ChipGuide):

305 Convention Center Drive (nearer to Paradise / Convention Center):

Royal Inn Casino (70-78)
Royal Americana (74-79, per ChipGuide (wrong??); (79-82, perTCR)
Then Paddlewheel, then Debbie Reynold's, now vacant lot.

Postcard, for reference:

I came across this mention of the Royal Americana, being owned by Horn & Hardart (famous for their Automat locations in NYC and elsewhere back east), with ownership in the 1980-82 period:

Note the H&H mention on the Royal Americana matchbook (from ChipGuide):

Comment: Date range for Royal Americana appears wrong on Chipguide.

Also, why did Royal Americana only have a 25c chip??? Did they use the previous Royal Inn chips during that period? (Chip pic from Chipguide).

Of course, there are still other "Royals" in the LV area, on the Strip and in Henderson ... but that's another story ...
