Several collectors asked me for more info on the 2 Paulson Sahara Samples/Prototype chips I got in the the Brass Core Collection. These chips are NOT Brass cores rather Metal Center Inlay chips, similar to the Bud Jones CIC (Coin in Center) Chips.
Scans of both sides of these chips are shown below.
If you look closely at the chips the Blue one seems to be better made and the "Hotel" under Sahara is more legible than on the Yellow and Green chip. Also notice the Green coloring in the devices on the Yellow and Green chip and the Yellow coloring on the Blue chip- again this is probably some kind of test to try to apply color to the Brass center inlay.
As far as I know, Paulson was never really able to perfect the production of these Brass center inlay chips and I don't think any of this style of chips was ever produced for actual use in any Casino. If anyone has any other info on these chips - please LMK.
These are definitely 2 of my favorite chips that I got from the Dean Porter collection even though they are NOT Brass Core Chips - I think they are very special "Sample/Prototype chips.
