Considering the casino was built in 1874 and burnt down in 1919... and, we can assume the MOP can be from the early years... and, since we also know that Celluloid-type plastics made their way into casinos in the early-1880's, this 5F could have been in the inventory for as long as (about) 35-years years or as little as 1-day which; in either case whatever the reason 'CI' is on the reverse and below the denomination of both pieces has to be there for a pretty good reason, especially for as long as it was. Also, I do not know of any chips with the identifying monogram and or name on the obverse while the reverse has a totally different monogram... The casino was in Royat, by the way.
I think that I might have a pretty good idea why the secondary monogram is on both pieces and why it is, where it is.
Any thoughts...?
