This photo was sent to the author of "CASINOS" many years before remnants of the Caro Collection became available at and away from eBay, by C. CARO.
As soon as I saw the lot with the two Dix Mille plaques I phoned Eisenstadt and told him to turn to the page in the book with this photo. We couldn't believe our eyes that such prized stuff turned up on eBay by a stamp collector... and we took one each.
Upon arrival, Eisenstadt emailed the seller to thank him at which time the seller offered him the third piece in the photo for $35... and my example (left in phofo) arrived in Loxahatchee the following day.
Kenny Craig took the octagonal (serial no.1) and I never saw the oval offered or whatever is at the upper left in the photo which, could have both been sold prior to the series of sales at eBay, since stuff from tne Caro Collection (with documentation) that never made it to eBay is still turning up in Paris after all these years.
The three Dix Mille plaques are the largest made by Caro (Briotet, probably). See Eisenstadt's website for description.
