A great summary of the demise of Saratoga's illegal gambling scene. I assume, similar to what happened in Newport, Kentucky the void caused many people their means of livelihood and overall the town suffered for a long time.

The Federal Govt. and the local do gooders in Newport, led by an ex-stumble bum backup quarterback George Ratterman, caused a 30 year decline in Northern Kentucky way of life for most people...only the bust-out joints survived.
