The recent new issues in Nevada -- The Strat and OYO -- did not include snappers as part of their chip racks. (Nor did their predecessors.) Looks like the most recent snapper issued was for the Sierra Grand in Reno.
Have we seen the last snapper for Nevada casinos? I hope not, but time will tell. The Circa will open next year, and Resorts World in 2021, but I'm not optimistic about new snappers in Nevada.
Of course, the $2.50 was primarily designed as part of a $5 blackjack payoff on the 3-to-2 tables. (Those 3-to-2 tables are also disappearing in some places! ). Now that $5 minimum tables are scarce in many casinos, with $10+ minimums at most LV strip casinos, the need for snappers is not there anymore. Rather, a supply of 50c coins is easier.
Snappers are still in Atlantic City and some other jurisdictions, including a recent one at the Hard Rock-AC. But in Atlantic City, their Gaming Regulations require all chips (no coins) on all table games. Same with a few other states, I think.
Time moves on, I guess, but I miss those pink snappers that were once common on Nevada blackjack tables.
