Hey Rob,
I’m certainly not one of the oldest members. I’m not one of the most knowledgable. I have some HR chips, but not as extensive as a lot of collectors. I’m going to buck the trend here though and say that they may hold their value better than most think. At least the big name bands. The reason that I believe this is that they are cross-collectable. People love music. People love their favorite bands. For $5 or $10 people will love to have a cool casino chip with a Rock logo of their favorite band. You don’t need to collect casino chips to appreciate that. I’ve also seen a lot of people who only collect the HR and no other casino, because of the Rock and Roll theme. Pogs, trading cards, stickers, buttons, small things with colorful themes catch people’s eyes. Try buying the “Captain Kirk” or “Mr. Spock” casino chips that were put out by the Hilton. Sky high prices, because all the Trekies want them. They are cross-collectable. I know that nobody is getting my $25 Jimi Hendrix chip. No one can tell the future though.
JMHO,
Peace,
Don
