I think what he's looking for is to purchase previous editions of The Chip Rack (the big spiral-bound reference of Nevada chips & values).

He may be doing a longitudinal look at price changes / trends in certain chips (or overall) through the years.(If I'm recalling correctly.)

Certainly, there have been changes, in both directions, of values of chips over the years!
