What's the status of the website refresh?
I know I've been like a broken record about this, but why are we not promoting ourselves with the #1 thing this club has to give, the quarterly magazine??? The last magazine in the archives on the website is January 2013, and although it looks to have a hot link, it doesn't go anywhere. When you hit the 2015-2017 (the last years given) it shows the same thing that has been shown for years...
We do post some archived articles, but the most recent is 15 years old!
I think we should be posting the CCTN for anyone who is interested. If you are worried that people aren't going to renew because its posted for free, then post a couple quarters back.
I think potential members should be able to see what we have to offer. How many people with passing interest are going to take the time to find the membership officer's email (not easy to do on the website), write a request, and wait for a sample CCTN to be mailed? We need to hook them IMMEDIATELY.
I've been corresponding with someone in the Dallas area who is doing some work on a local historical gambling spot. He's a professor and considering giving his students an assignment on the project and is asking me for information. I think the article I wrote on Benny Binion (a couple years back) would be a great resource. Me sending the Word document does nothing for the club. Sending them a link to the CCTN, where they could look through all the other articles too, might. These are college students. The idea of a paper magazine is foreign to them.
This is just one example. I think our fear of giving something away for free is hurting our promotional potential. Jerry set up at a yard sale and got dozens of members, how many could we get if we really spread out?
