There's been a good deal of discussion on the ChipBoard about the
downscaling, simplifying (or perhaps corporatizing) of chip designs
lately in Las Vegas... here are three recent examples:
While it would be nice to see the graphic representation of a logo,
a character, or a building included in the designs, I don't really
have a major problem with the way these chips look... they reflect
a clean, lean, modern, corporate design esthetic that is worlds away
from classic Las Vegas chip design of the 50s, 60s & 70s... they
basically accomplish 3 simple missions:
- Tell 'em your name (Strat, Oyo, Sahara)
- Tell 'em where you are (Las Vegas)
- Tell 'em what you offer (gambling)
