Early Bird Auction
At our meeting, the Early Bird Auction begins at 6:45 pm followed by our Guest Speaker and then the Club Meeting. You can see the list of auction items and scans in this message. In the event you are not able to make it in person, you are welcome to email Jim Follis at jim@gamingore.com, with your highest proxy bid(s). Just include your *CCA* or SNCCC membership number and which lot(s) you want to bid on. At the auction, payment for winning bids is due at the end of the auction. If you are an absentee winner, you will receive an invoice. You may bring any items for future auctions with you. Any form of Casino Memorabilia is welcome. The Club takes a 20% seller’s fee unless you opt to donate all proceeds to the Club.
Guest Speaker
Our Guest Speaker this month will be Mr. Phil Jensen. Phil began collecting coins as a young boy in Wisconsin in 1953 when his father gave him six rolls of Indian head pennies and a folder to put them in. For much of the 1950’s, Phil spent Friday nights searching through rolls of coins bought at the local bank. He’d been bitten by the collecting bug! After a four-year stint at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Phil moved to Lake Tahoe in 1966 where he became fascinated by the 300-piece casino chip collection on display at Harvey’s. For the next fifteen years, Phil traveled Nevada, collecting current and obsolete chips and the stories that went with them. Recently, he has been documenting those travels, chips and stories in articles in Casino Chip and Token News (now Casino Collectibles News). Phil has been a casino dealer for 36 years, and currently lives in Las Vegas. His presentation will be a question and answer event so bring your questions on anything you wish to learn about.
Phil was inducted into the Casino Collectibles Association the Hall of Fame in 2003. He is also a member of the Southern Nevada Casino Collectors Club
Raffle 50/50 and Prizes
There will be a 50/50 raffle for cash and/or prizes which is quite fun! We have some great prizes that have been donated by our membership as well as from local vendors.
If you are not yet a member or your membership has lapsed, I invite you to join the SNCCC. An annual membership is only $12.00 payable at the door. You are, of course, welcome as a guest to see what we’re all about and you can bring your friends as well!!!!!!!!!!
Our meetings are short, which gives you lots of time to socialize and gain knowledge about whatever interests you with casino memorabilia.
On behalf of the SNCCC, I sincerely hope you will join us and hope to talk to everyone there.
