I am satisfied with the outcome and have every reason to believe it was just an oversight by the seller -- who made automatic refund and explained he was totally unaware of the damaged chip. Thanks to all who responded with advise, and my total faith has been restored in this process. Thanks again, not a complainer but just an avid collector of nice chips.
