We (about 40 of us) pulled into roadside stop in Bavaria and a couple of us went inside to check it out to see if they could handle us. There were a few cars outside and about 10 people having breakfast and noticed a few of them walking up to a long table which had a huge variety of sliced meats, cheese, fruit; breads galore... but no eggs in sight. When we asked the girl if they can make eggs for us she asked "for how many?" and when we said 40, she turned to another woman and explained everything and we got the OK. When we went back to our trucks to let everyone know we were welcome, we saw about six girls running in all directions with baskets. They were going to the farmhouses to fetch eggs; a lot of eggs. We all sat at the tables waiting. The girls finally came back in with the baskets of eggs and I said to myself that this is going to take for ever to fix eggs for 40 of us. A few minutes later I walked into the kitchen asking if I can be if any help... and they pointed to the trash bins and pointed to where they can be carried to. Though, while still in the kitchen, I noticed them preparing huge backing trays, dicing up the sliced meats and cheese. Went back into the kitchen and noticed them taking the first few trays out of the oven. What they were doing was dropping the eggs into the pans and putting them into the ovens and when done they evenly sliced square sections of the eggs which were at least one inch thick. They served them with the diced meats and cheese on the side... and of course all the breads were there as well. I'm sure it had cost plenty, but spending money with the locals wasn't a problem with Uncle Sam... 😀🍪🍮🍳🍞
