I think the biggest problem is the blurring of fact and opinion - even the routine new stories calling the President's remarks "racist" is a conclusion and not a pure fact (and I am not a Trump supporter - I just know the difference). I wrote a lot of editorials and knew my job in that role was to write about facts and reach opinionated conclusions - not to just to twist opinions into every fact. That job prepared me well for my eventual career as a lawyer - it helps keep fact witnesses from reaching conclusions, it helps lay the groundwork for expert witnesses who are entitled to express opinions if a factual basis exists, and it helps me identify loaded language from the other side.
