During the Dallas gambling war, Benny Binion headed west to Las Vegas while his minions back in Texas kept fighting. Herbert Noble, driven mad from constant attacks (and the murder of his wife) decided the only "rational" response would be to pack his personal two-seater plane full of explosives and fly to Vegas. His intention was to simply fly the plane into Benny's house, ending the war in a great explosion.
However, a local Dallas sheriff caught wind of the plan and warned Binion who immediately packed up his family and hid up north. The sheriff then talked Noble down and they went back to using guns and cars instead of planes.
Noble and his plane. Damaged caused when one of Binion's guys backed the engine with TNT. However, this one of the many attempt that Noble survived, giving him his nine lives and nicknaming him "The Cat."
Benny ended up finally getting the last laugh and winning the war and becoming a gambling legend.
