could be a more logic explanation. The establishment is from 1832 and the K could stand for Köln (being Cologne) as marked from the collector.

Monogram appears to be "EK"
Upon further observation of ChipGuide entry ~~~
the 10R is engraved in the jeton
...and the 5 in ChipGuide looks like a paste-on ~~
