I bought a wooden box of old chips at a church rummage sale today. There was a mix of old chips. When I compared a Horseshoe, cap and whip design to those I had I realized I had found a new variation. The biggest difference is the size of the ring. There are several other differences. This makes the tenth variation of that design that I'm aware of. I see in the back of Dale Seymour's book old chip ads that so show this desin as far back as 1880. I have a copy of a USPC Co. catalog from 1920 with the same design. No doubt having been made for at least forty years by many different companies, there had to be a lot of variations to the artwork. Are there others??????
