Maybe not an "odd" denomination ~~~

~~~ and just a rare piece... especially if both US gold coinage and those chips were on the game during that period (at the same time) or for "payout purposes" if the house catered mostly to Americans. Even here in the US, paper money was virtually useless out West many years back and gold coinage was the norm.

Though, if the piece might be from a private operation/club, I question only why HABANA was needed with a monogram, since most gaming house monograms were well known in their area and very little else graphics needed except a denomination, of course.

Very interesting piece which carries many questions and very little answers; thus far.
