Drove up to River Rock yesterday. I was feelin' lucky, punk.

The chips looked . . . different - could have sworn the old series was Bud Jones and they are now . . . Paulsons. Bought five $1's and, yes, they are sort of new - maybe several months in circulation but the edges are still sharp. Yesss! OK, now I have to go to work! Went to another table and asked to buy ten ones and some fives. No way, said the dealer. No way, said the young Pit Boss who pounced on the proposed transaction. You have to go to the Roulette Table to buy chips. The old Pit Boss ambled over. Agreed with this assessment, said, come on over and I'll see that you get your chips. So far so good . . .

The Roulette Lady said, NO SALES OF CHIPS WHILE CARDS ARE IN PLAY. She sold me $25 worth of Roulette chips instead. I reluctantly put down a $5 chip on # 20. The Old Pit Boss shook his head, and spoke with the Roulette Lady. They began a spirited argument while the wheel spinned and the players watched this unexpected gaming action. Finally, Roulette Lady relented (more like threatened with loss of his position) and I turned in the roulette chips (all very worn down) and was awarded 1's and 5's. Phew!

I scurried over to the Buffet, which had just opened for the dinner hour. I ate and returned to the tables as there were yet yellow 50¢ chips to be had. The Blackjack game where the dealer had scads of them . . . was now closed. Who closes BJ on a Saturday night???? Another dealer next to the roulette game had a couple but . . . I didn't want to get anywhere near the spot again. Found a final table with some yellow chips, and was able to get four. Saw the young Pit Boss standing around . . . uh-oh . . . can't ask for more . . . the helpful dealer . . . left the table (shift change) and a new lady sat down. Fortunately not the Roulette Diva. Decided to call it a night so that's why I have mostly $1 chips available.

Don't know what happened to the Roulette Diva, she may have been sent out to gather acorns.
