knowing when a specific item was posted to get an idea if a chip or collectable your looking for appeared years ago or more recently when searching for a piece for your own collection. Also it would sort of document the age of the piece. I recently picked up a rare piece of slot glass from the person that contributed it to the chip guide and they were not certain what year it was from, but they had it a long time. If it was dated upon submission it would indicate somewhat of what period it was from. Another example is most of the casinos I am collecting from have been closed for some time and others have discontinued tables games implementing slots and sports book only where chips have not been used for 20 years. I was looking for a particular chip that took me 5 years to find that was listed and pictured in the chip guide. It would be helpful to know when that chip was listed originally ie turned up, to get an indication of maybe how long it may take to find another. If the entry was dated recently from a closed casino it would seem to indicate they maybe another one could turn up in the short term. Also, recently I have contributed chips that were not listed and the casinos have been closed for a long time. If its possible to date an entry it may be more helpful than not My two cents. Keep on Chipping ! Doug
