The Epson V39 scanner uses CIS scanning technology, which is not great for capturing colors. Scanners with CCD technology, similar to what was used in digital cameras, is great for colors. CIS technology is typically found in low cost scanners and all-in-one printer/scanners. CCD scanners are a little more expensive, but is what you should be using for scanning casino chips.
