A True Story ....

Many years ago, after acquiring a short set of these chips, Brenda and I took one of them to the cashier's cage at Trump Plaza to inquire about the nature of these chips.

I asked the cashier if I could speak to the supervisor. I showed the chip to the cage supervisor and asked what can you tell me about this chip, that I was the author of an A.C. chip catalog and a chip collector and did not want to redeem the chip, I merely wanted to know the history about it. When was it issued, for what purpose, how many were made? etc. The cage supervisor said he did not really know but if I could wait a couple of minutes he would find someone who might be able to help me. A few minutes later, a gentleman in a suit came to the window and asked if I would accompany him to his office, to which Brenda and I readily agreed. He wanted to know where I got the chip. I told him that I purchased it at a local flea market a few months ago. He said that he was from casino security and that he was confiscating the chip. I asked why? He said that the chip was not authorized to be outside of the cage and evidently there has been a breech of security. He told Brenda and I to stay where we were, that he was going to have to notify Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE). We waited about a half hour or more and we were told that the DGE agent was on his way from another property in town. I told him that we were not going to hang around waiting for him any longer, that we had show tickets for that evening and we had not eaten dinner yet. The security head advised us that we had to stay and wait for DGE. I told him that we had done nothing wrong; all that I was doing was seeking out information about the chip for my reference catalog; either charge me or I'm walking out of this office .. which we did and were allowed to leave.

Moral to this story; NEVER/EVER TAKE A QUESTIONABLE CHIP TO A CASINO CAGE. Take a photo copy, not the actual chip.

When I told my good friend, Bruce Landau, this story about the chip being confiscated and telling him which one, he said "no problem Arch, I'll get you another one".... and he did.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! grin
